FAQ

What format is this training?

Level 1 and 2 are videos, audios and written activities that you take online in your own time on Thinkific, my training platform.

It takes around 15 hours to complete Level 1 and 2. These cost little to access and we hope everyone signs up for them!

Level 3, is a live online experience with Becca, meeting weekly online with a small group of others who have also completed Level 1 and 2.

Do I need to be a professional already to take the course?

No, anybody can take the course and learn more about family estrangement! You might be interested in the facts about estrangement, or simply hearing more from Becca for your own learning and healing. Professional or not, this will be an enriching experience.

However, you'd need to be a trained and accredited coach, therapist, psychologist or clergy to be part of my register of professionals that we can promote at the end of the training.

What will I gain from the training?

By the end of Level 1, you will feel more versed in the facts about family estrangement and the causes and consequences. This will allow you to speak with more authority about the issue to clients experiencing estrangement and reassure them with a more theoretical understanding of the issue.

By the end of Level 2, you will feel more confident in helping clients work through the issues around estrangement with our tools. We will introduce you to practical tools and advice that you can use with clients to help them with their specific situation. This might be a letter of amends, a grievance letter or how to become more self-loving and accepting.

By the end of Level 3, you will have mastered the subject and feel confident in marketing yourself as someone with specialist helping expertise in this field. You will be connected to a group of others who are taking the training, and with our sign off, you will be promoted on a register of professionals that have specialisms in family estrangement. This accounts for why Level 3 requires a greater financial investment, as it represents becoming the expert and opening yourself up to this client group as a specialist.

Will I be tested on my knowledge?

Yes! We will give you a test to work through at the end of Level 1, 2 and 3. We don’t assess your test, but this is used as a way for you to solidify your learning.

What if I don't have clients that are estranged from a family member?

That's OK! The chances are you might have one soon if you take our training and start to tell people that you have skills in this area!

How long should I take to work through the levels?

This is down to you and what suits you in terms of the time you have to invest. There is no time limit to the access you have to the material so you could take a year, or a month, or binge it all in a week!

Do I have to take level 1 & 2 to take level 3?

Yes, you do! We need you to come to level three with the knowledge from the first two levels so we can dive deeper and help you really develop your practice.

Do you have sponsored or scholarship places?

We don't. However, we have tried to make the price point accessible in comparison to other professional training programs so as many people as possible can take the course, particularly level 1 and 2.

What happens if I took the Level 1 and 2 training with Dr Joshua Coleman and Becca when it first launched?

This is a note from Becca:

We are managing a change here from when we first launched Standing-Together in 2021. Josh stepped away from the Standing Together project around a year ago in 2022.

In light of his decision, I decided that the mission to train helping professionals worldwide was important enough for me to take it forward on my own, and build it into a more of a community of training, interest and practice.

There’s no hard feelings between Josh and myself. It simply wasn’t good timing in our personal and professional lives for us both to work together on such a big project given our other commitments. Josh is an important figure in this field and I wish him all the best with his work going forward.

If you signed up for Level 1&2 with us both in 2021, you don’t need to do or re-take anything. All the material from the launch version of Standing Together in 2021 is still online, and you can still login from Memberspace as you did previously and access it.

You can take Level 3 with me, and you don’t have to repeat or do anything new. My material was very much present in the launch version of Standing Together with Josh. I don’t feel you’ll be on the backfoot.

I am taking the initiative forward solo with a brilliant new US-based management team, who have helped me to iron out some of the admin kinks we had in the initial phase. Starting a global online initiative of this kind was a learning process!

If you are one of the cohort that took Level 3 with Josh and Becca in 2021, you will have received an email from Becca.

Please reach out if you have any queries about this to hello@standing-together.net and my team and I will be happy to hear you.
